Facilities
Inside each yurt there are facilities to make an early morning cuppa and a quick snack.
Cooking
The main catering facilities are in our brand new cookhouse, which has two separate areas for cooking and eating - see images below. Whilst protected from the elements our outdoor kitchen and dining area also gives you the pleasure of preparing food in the fresh air using gas burners and the wood burning brassier. This also gives the opportunity to share food with our other guests, or you could eat in your yurt.
Produce from the farm is available for you to buy with our breakfast hampers, including Drybeck's own sausages, dry cured bacon and freshly laid free range eggs our speciality. Our own fruit, veg and pork is also available and we also stock other basic foodstuffs for you to buy. Alternatively you could just stroll down the village and enjoy some excellent pub food at one of our local hostelries washed down with some real ale.
We have a room with a fridge and freezer for you to store your food and for washing up.
Loos and showers
For toilet facilities we have decided to use dry compost toilets. We felt that installing conventional toilets would cause unnecessary disturbance to the ground and immediate environment and also use large volumes of water. Our compost loos are well contained and managed, are pleasant to use, have no significant impact on the environment and also produce excellent and totally safe compost which fits with the sustainable ethos of Drybeck.
Our showers are also designed to minimise environmental impact. The grey water they produce is recycled to water our vegetable patch. Due to this we ask that you only use environmentally friendly shampoos and soaps such as Ecover. Due to this being our request we provide these free of charge, so thats one less thing you have to bring!
